After the massive mega marathon of Biryani / Pulao / khichadis, we are back to the regular marathons. My theme for this week is Summer Coolers which is just perfect for this scorching heat I am being subject to. If the Bangalore heat was not enough, I had to make a trip to Chennai and Kumbakonam, which are way worse. These amazing summer cooler drinks are my only source of respite.
This watermelon mint cooler is a simple and easy drink and can be made quickly. The daughter does not like to eat watermelons and I have a hard time making her eat more than 2 small slices. I figured it is easier making her drink it and she has loved this version of the watermelon immensely.
Serves 3-4
WHAT WE NEED
1/2 Watermelon (around 500gms)
1 sprig fresh mint
2-3 tsp Sugar
WHAT TO DO
- Separate the watermelon flesh from the rind
- Add the watermelon, fresh mint and sugar to a blender jar
- Blend it all together in the blender
- Use a sieve to separate the juice and chill
- Serve chilled
- Enjoy!

Watermelon is perfect for the hot summer weather. I love the juice too, but thankfully my son loves to eat it as such so I am saved from taking out the mixer :-D.
Watermelon is really cooling in summers. I am lazy to make juice so most of the time end up eating pieces..
Beautiful color! A perfect drink for summer.
I agree watermelon serves as a thirst quencher in the summer months. My kids love the watermelon lemonade and so I am sure they will appreciate this one as well.
My kids love most things with watermelon in its whole form – from the chilled melon ball salad to the whole fruit. Addition of mint is such a lovely idea ! Kumbakonam in this heat – god bless u (or did u go there to visit mr Uppiliappan ? 😜)
Heat at Madurai is quite unbearable. This cooler looks fantastic and would be a perfect drink to keep us cool. The mint would add a nice savoury note to the cooler.
No doubt this drink will help so much!..I love to enjoy this anytime Sowmya, so nicely clicked!
Simpl , refreshing and delicious summer treat. I’m like your daughter – I’d rather drink watermelon than eat it. Looks very inviting.
