Garlic Rice


There are so many options for the alphabet G but me being the eternal garlic lover had to pick this delicious garlic rice. This is a simple and flavourful rice that is so easy to make and works best for a work night dinner. This garlic rice can be paired with any dal or mixed vegetable or paneer gravy dish.

Serves 2-3


1 cup Rice / Basmati Rice

1 tbsp Butter

5-6 Cloves of garlic

1/2 tsp Freshly crushed pepper

2 cups Water

1 tsp Sambhar powder / Curry powder (optional)

Fresh coriander for garnish



  • Cook the rice with 2 cups water and set aside to cool
  • Heat a pan and melt the butter in it
  • Peel and chop the garlic cloves
  • Add the garlic to the pan and cook on low heat
  • Fry till the garlic turns golden brown
  • Add the rice, crushed pepper, sambhar powder and salt and mix well
  • Garnish with fresh coriander
  • Enjoy with any gravy dish of your choice
